Are all stag handles dyed?

I was told by a known maker that knife stag handles are all dyed. I think the use of Potassium Permanganate is the proper name for the dying chemical. Am I right in saying this or was I misled.

Potassium Permangunate is a good dye for stag......
Many of stag handles are NOT dyed.....look at Tony and Reese Bose's knives..darn near none dyed....and daggone gorgeous no matter what....and that is just referring to the handle slabs! www.KnifeTalkForums.com ....
