Hello all. I've just registered to this website and I thought that I should introduce myself. I'm a veteran and a machinist. I teach machine shop at a community college in central NC and I'm very interested in learning knife making. I've been keen to start into knife making for some time and I've accumulated quite the personal library of resource material. At the moment, I'm renovating a small section of my basement for an equally small shop. I look forward to learning as much as I can from everyone here.

Welcome to the addiction. Since you are a machinest by trade, I imagine you are oriented toward stockremoval methodology. You should find plenty of help here and on other forums.
Not to sidetrack or hijack your interest here, but there is a subforum over on KnifeNetworkForums for the North Carolina Guild. You should be able to connect with many excellent knifemakers in your area through that organization.
Good luck. If I can be of any further assistance let me know.
And.....if you think you might want to venture into the fire & hammer side of knifemaking, you are welcome to come down to Blairsville, GA the end of March and give things a onceover. Check out the posting on the Calendar/Events section about "Trackrock Hammer-in" here on the KGF.
